I went and get my hair cut the other day. At the sugestion of .tiff, I went and saw Karafina at Zip Zap Hair in San Francisco.
At first, we were both a bit nervous: me, cus I rarely get haircuts. I've been trying to find a good place for a good long time, and I've found it! EUREKA! Her, cus I have some crazy hair and I was asking quite a bit to be done, but Karafina pulled through to the max.
Anyway, I sent A CERTAIN SOMEONE a before picture, but it was deleted. On purpose, I presume. But I'm not making unfounded accusations. Anyway, I looked a little something like this:
Karafina took off major hair weight, and hooked my bangs up. The bombbbb! I actually have pictures of the copious amounts of hair that was chopped off that I'll post, once I have access to my blackberry (where the pictures are, and when I get access back in the states).
Anyway. Hair = good. Haircuts = neat. Good haircuts = the bees knees!!
I'm done relaxing my hair.
My hair seems to have gone through a change for the better and I'm going to let it grow. Curlingly, twistingly, blonde/orange/red/browningly (my hair color) grow.
Cus I've been thinking about it for a while. And since I've been thinking about it, I haven't put a relaxer in it. The last one was in January (?) and I'm finally done.
I have about 2 inches of naturally curly, twisty, blonde/orange/red/brown hair. I just like to touch it sometimes.
I have very biracial/black+white hair. I can do curly and straight, and like most folks (not just mixed) that do this, I have to treat both styles with different products. Not only that, but I typically combine White hair care products with Black hair care products to get either look (resisting temptation to pull out race card on the aisle segregation of Black and White hair care products... resisting... resistiiiiing - another post for another day).
I think I've found the perfect combo.
My problem: when I was my hair, I have to use an extremely moisturizing shampoo - typically a Black shampoo.
^This stuff worked, but I HATED the smell. It seriously smells like dog shampoo (more on that in the hair/race post). It was so amazing, though, that it didn't require conditioner. An amazing feat! The smell though. I'm big on how hair smells, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Ugh.
Then, I found this combo:
But I digressssssss.
This stuff made my hair ULTRA manageable after I washed the conditioner out. But, that is only half the battle. Post-shower hair treatment (between post-shower and pre-style to be exact) is crucial too. That's there this bad boy comes in:
- Flat ironers of the world know - flat ironing flipping SUCKS! Price of beauty, blahblahblah. But it SUCKS. Your right arm is buffer than your left from yielding that flat iron around your dome. Portions of your forehead, neck or ears are singed. Two words - steam burn! (your hair isn't completely dry, so this tiny bit of dampness creates what I can only liken to the output of a steam-operated locomotive ... but .5 inches away from your scalp) Plus, flat ironing takes a long time.
- Even with flat ironing, I don't always get the desired look I want. Sometimes my hair will come out kinda stringy. Sometimes it'll come out kinda stiff. Sometimes it'll come out hella poofy. My desired look is free-flowing. Nothing else. Too much to ask? NO, says Cantu Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream. Not too much, Goldie.
- Flat ironing sometimes stinks. Forget that you washed with flower-barf shampoo. Your head still smells like you burned a rat and then made a hat of it and then wore it on a rainy day and then sat in the sun with it on. Well, at least that's what I feel mine smells like.
To sum it up: my hair smells good, it's soft, it took a lot less time to do. W00t.
disclaimer: individual results may vary. but you're only spending about $15 - so who cares! If anyone uses this stuff or tries it, I'd like to know thoughts.
I just figured out how to make my hair wavy. I'm irrationally excited about this. Whee!
I can't figure out my hair. It's been 23 years since I've had it, and I still don't know what to do with it.
I chopped my bangs again yesterday. I like them this time around, but those suckers grow so fast. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my hair. Pony tails/buns are not quite grown-n-sexy.
I think I'm gonna have to get a professional haircut. Oh, this reminds me... I was supposed to recap my bday haircut that went kaputz. Will do that later.
Anyway. Going to look for some hurrrstyles to get a grown-n-sexy head.
Ugh.
I need an adult hairstyle. Don't let my pictures fool you. For the most part, I wear my hair in a curly pony tail. Ok when I was 12. Not so ok every-dang-day at the office or out and about. Help!
There was a photo spread in last month's Lucky that had hair that I like. It's cute, but it's straight and I can't do straight all the time cus it fries my mixed-gul hair.
I'll post a picture tonight if I feel like it.
Any ideas for hair?
