Looks like tons of fun - lots of great pics! :-)
Um. Berkeley doesn't exactly "do" patriotism.

It was LOTS of fun. :)

HA! You're riiiiight. Didn't even think of that. I asked this lady who worked at a booth if there was going to be a parade, and she looked at me like, "Bitch! Is you stoopid?!"
There's no Fourth of July love here in London, either. Figures.

This looked to be waaay more fun than a parade!!!
It's true! Berkeley hates America! I know 'cause the liberal media told me!

But yeah. Berkeley is kinda awesome. I wish I lived there.
I think you're right. Maybe I can avoid parades from now on... "Let's go to the park instead."
Kinda awesome?! It IS awesome.
I went to an acquaintances house just yesterday, and she had a ... hm... it wasn't a bumper sticker, cus it took up the majority of her back car (camero... a pre-cursor?) window... the window sticker said:

"Support our troops. Protest Berkeley."

Weird timing.
HA! Ah, people... I have to say, I was muy embarrassed about living in Berkeley when those pink panthers or whomever set up that protest in front of the marines recruitment office. talk about misguided.
haha... To be honest, all I have to say to that is fuck the troops. If you sign up to take part in government sponsored murder (which is exactly what war is), and terrorism (which is exactly what this war is), you deserve all the shit anyone throws at you. I'm sick of the insistence that I should treat those people like heroes while at the same time I should spit on people who kill someone they have a real personal reason for killing (which is far more honorable than killing for no good reason other than someone in a position of authority telling you to do so). Dehumanizing murder doesn't make it not murder. Government authorization doesn't make terrorism not terrorism!

It's not misguided to protest the Marines. In fact, I'm all for it. They prey on the young working class to fight battles for the rich, so they keep pumping campaign money into politicians who are willing to rattle their sabers at anyone who has something they want. Terrorism is terrorism, regardless where it's coming from, whether that's governments, corporations, religions, or anyone else. War is a childish way to solve problems and I will never respect the people who take part in it, whatever their reason. They're not protecting my freedom. It hasn't been about freedom since the revolution. Can we just knock of the pretenses and call it what it is?
